Help Support the Durham Crisis Response Center
Elizabeth* is a 22-year old who recently began counseling with our Sexual Assault Specialist (SAS). She was in therapy for an eating disorder but the therapist knew of her sexual assault. Her mother did not see any improvement in her daughter and decided to call DCRC. After the initial session for both of them, they both said the experience was transforming. In a subsequent counseling session, Elizabeth said that on a scale of 1-10, she started the process at 2; but after meeting with the SAS she is now a 9. Her affect and demeanor have remarkably changed. She is has resumed activities she abandoned months ago.

Goods & Services
The DCRC shelter houses over two hundred women and children every year, requiring lots of odds and ends to keep the household running. DCRC relies on gifts from the community to make stays at the shelter as comfortable as possible.
Professional services, such as painting, plumbing, electrical work, landscaping and more, are extremely helpful and allow us to provide more services directly to clients. If you can mow the grass, fix a leaky sink or handle a hammer, we have a job for you. Please contact us at shelter@durhamcrisisresponse.org for more information.
DCRC also maintains a wish list of all the things needed on an on-going basis. If you would like to donate any of the following new items listed below, please drop them off at Pennies for Change, our benefit thrift store, located at 2715 Chapel Hill Blvd. near Guglhupf. Please call 237-2167 if you need directions. If you have other items that you would like to donate to the shelter program, please call our Director of Shelter Services at 489-3654.
